- The electronics industry in Scotland employs 41,000
people directly, with a further 29,900 employed indirectly
in the supply infrastructure.
- The electronics industry accounted for 24% of Scotland's
manufacturing GDP in 1994.
- Scotland's semiconductor fabrication plants employ over
7,300 people.
- Scotland has over 15% share of total European
semiconductor capacity and over 50% share of British
capacity.
- Scotlands telecommunications industry is host to over 100 international and Scottish bred players, employing more than 12,000 people.
Scotland has three of the world's top ten companies
involved in telecommunications equipment manufacturing
including Alcatel, NEC and Motorola.
