Engineering Doctorate Programme

Students will learn, in an entrepreneurial environment, to be capable of generating new ideas in the SLI field and taking those solutions through to product realisation and the marketplace. Successful graduates of the programme will be fully equipped for leadership positions in the electronic systems industry. The programme is also designed to support companies employing design engineers to enhance their R&D capabilities. In such cases, the EngD programme is utilised as an Industrial Studentship and offers companies, including SMEs a mechanism to develop new products while retaining highly sought after staff who wish to continue their professional development. ISLI's EngD programme is approved by EPSRC and is one of just ten programmes to attract funding from this prestigious scheme. ISLI is the only EngD Centre dedicated to electronic systems design and its EngD programme has been designed specifically to meet the needs of companies engaged in system level integration and system-on-chip design. This rapidly evolving sector demands new skills and creativity and is generating significant new research opportunities.
