Building for the Future of Electronic Design
27 March
2001
A new joint venture company,
Alba Campus Limited, today (Tuesday 27 March 2001)
marked the start of their first development at Alba
Campus in Livingston. Phil Miller, managing director
of Miller Developments and David Crichton, chief
executive, Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian,
joined forces to push forward the development by
commencing groundbreaking work on a 35,000 sq ft
building which will become the new home of the Alba
Centre initiative.
Alba Campus Limited is a joint venture between Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and Miller Group/Bank of Scotland, created specifically to develop Alba Campus as a centre of excellence in electronic design. The Campus will ultimately provide over one million square feet of business space in a £200 million development which will provide over 5,000 jobs.
Alba has already been successful in attracting companies involved in Intellectual Property and System on Chip designs. The Campus is anchored by Cadence with its 116,000 square feet headquarters building. A second building, Integration House, which will be home to Motorola, Spektra and Epson, is also nearing completion. Occupiers will benefit from a full day care nursery, adjacent sports and fitness facilities and the campus will be landscaped with water features, pedestrian walks, areas of woodland and panoramic views.
The latest building will house the Virtual Component Exchange (VCX), the Institute for System Level Integration, and a new semiconductor test technology centre. It will also contain quality facilities including a library, lecture and meeting rooms, a restaurant and a small retail outlet.
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE OF ELECTRONIC DESIGN

We are offering a quality development to quality companies and Alba Campus is poised to be one of Scotland’s prime assets.”
