Kymata Expands Planar Software Portfolio with New Design Tool
19 March 2001
California.-March 19, 2001- Kymata Ltd., a technology leader providing next-generation integrated optical devices, today announced the addition of StressSelene™ to its planar design and simulation tools portfolio. StressSelene, a new software design tool addresses today's mechanical stress problems for planar-based opto-electronic integrated circuits. Mechanical stress can influence or distort the optical behavior of passive and integrated optical components. Mechanical stress is critical to detect when designing devices with low polarization dependency losses (PDL).
Kymata's new design tool compliments its existing portfolio of world-class software products, including Prometheus™, TempSelene™, and ScriptWindow™. They provide a complete design environment ranging from the simplest to the most advanced designs. The software products improve functionality, productivity and efficiency in all aspects of design and simulation of planar-based integrated optics.
"We provide a high level of freedom to the optical designer who requires tools for designing real world devices to meet customer requirements," said Dr. Martin Amersfoort for Kymata. "Our customers selected us because of our high level of expertise and more specifically, our knowledge in planar design and integrated optical devices."
About Kymata's Planar Design and Simulation Tools
Due to the complexity of adding functionality onto a single chip and creating multi-functional planar integrated optical devices, high performance design tools are required to fully simulate the device characteristics before commencing manufacturing. By detecting errors before the manufacturing process begins, Kymata can ensure that the products are exceeding specifications. This provides their customers an advantage by allowing them to acquire market leadership quickly.
These needs are met with Kymata's software portfolio including: Prometheus for mask layout, two- and three-dimensional beam propagation mode (BPM) simulation and optimization of waveguide layout; TempSelene for simulation and optimization of waveguide cross-section; Script Window™ for programmable device optimization; and the latest product StressSelene™ for solving thermally induced mechanical stresses.
All of the software products are fully supported by a professional team of design experts. The software adds to Kymata's ability to assist customers throughout the entire product cycle by offering design, fabrication, testing, packaging and automated testing services in a range of leading technologies such as silica-on-silicon, MEMS, and silicon oxynitride (SION).
