IndigoVision Chosen as Technology Provider for New 700 Camera Ethernet CCTV System at Brussels International Airport
19 April 2001
Edinburgh - 19 April 2001 - IndigoVision Group plc ("IndigoVision"), the leading video over IP technology company, today announced an agreement to supply its latest technology, VideoBridge6, for a new Ethernet CCTV system at Brussels International Airport - the first airport to adopt this leading edge technology to provide improved monitoring facilities.
The contract has been won in partnership with Baxall, the UK's leading manufacturer of CCTV equipment, and Baxall's Belgian distributor, systems integrator E.N.I. Baxall will embed IndigoVision's VideoBridge6 technology into their Destiny(tm)-IP range of products, which provides a complete CCTV solution over Ethernet networks. As such, the new system is both highly flexible and scaleable and brings significant advantages in terms of cost effectiveness and convenience. .
Brussels International Airport is the first airport to utilise IndigoVision's unique technology. IndigoVision's Videobridge6 technology enables images to be recorded in full motion and in real time enabling the airport to have a digital CCTV system that provides increased quality and flexibility from the traditional analogue systems. The CCTV system will involve 700 cameras and will be used to cover the entire airport - 3,706 acres - whilst allowing for further expansion opportunities. The CCTV system will be used by the police, fire services, baggage handling and Customs and Excise for a variety of different purposes, at different places and all at the same time.
Baxall Managing Director, Dominic Oughton, is keen to point out the benefits of this Destiny(tm)-IP CCTV system in the Brussels Airport installation: "We designed a CCTV system that could use much of the airport's existing cabling infrastructure to keep installation costs down. The security element was obviously the foremost consideration for the airport, but the great advantage of using a CCTV system across an Ethernet network is its scope and flexibility."
Oliver Vellacott, CEO and founder of IndigoVision, commented, "This agreement is the latest in a series of joint ventures in which IndigoVision has provided its innovative video technology to enhance its partners' products and services. "Today's announcement is the second contract that has been signed with Baxall over the last 6 months. This underlines the strength of our offering and provides further endorsement of our aim to become the video standard among manufacturers."
