IP based design has now become commonplace as SOC takes its hold on
many applications. Nevertheless, the verification of IP blocks, and
of systems containing these blocks, remains a significant problem.
This panel will investigate the detailed problems of verification in
IP-based designs. Panel members will discuss the issue of verification
in the context of IP delivery and IP-based system designs. This will
include a discussion of the following points:
* In what ways does IP introduce special problems for verification?
* To what extent is poor IP quality holding back IP market growth?
* Where should the responsibility lie for different levels of verification
in SOCs?
* What should be the role of standards in IP delivery?
* What are the opportunities for third party involvement in verification?
What are the business and technical issues when third parties are involved?
The panel will address these issues using examples from their individual
perspectives.
