Licensing agreement signed to develop IP Video for Maverick Chips

Edinburgh, Scotland - 6th February 2001 - IndigoVision Group plc today announced that it has completed a licensing agreement with Cirrus Logic Inc. to develop real-time networked video capability for Cirrus Logic's industry-leading, ARM-powered Maverick product line.

The agreement will enable Cirrus Logic and IndigoVision to jointly develop a new level of market specific processor embedding IndigoVision's VideoBridge(r) technology and offering customers in the 2002 timeframe a scaleable networked video solution, satisfying major video standards in the market, including MPEG4, H26X and M-JPEG.

The combination of Cirrus Logic embedded processors and IndigoVision's VideoBridge software will enable manufacturers to deploy Maverick chip sets in future generation consumer appliances, including personal portable MP4 players, digital TVs, web TV receivers, in-car entertainment systems, handheld devices, set-top boxes, DVD players, video servers and closed circuit TVs.

MPEG-4 technology promises improved quality video over the Internet while enabling multimedia applications for both landline and mobile networks. MPEG-4 market applications include video-on-demand, Internet video games, videoconferencing, video surveillance via the Internet, videophones and other implementations.

IndigoVision has invested more than 130 man years of development time in the VideoBridge technology which now offers the most complete set of hardware and software IP Video enabling solutions on the market, combining all the elements of visual communications into one fully integrated suite: video acquisition, compression, transmission, analysis, recording, administration and viewing.

"The addition of high quality, real time video to the Maverick chip is a natural extension of our business model and of Maverick's audio capability," said Matthew Perry, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's Embedded Processors Division. "That same technology also gives us the opportunity to take our knowledge of audio content distribution and security and apply it to video."

"This deal is a landmark for our business and the industry," says Sergio Tansini, IndigoVision's Chief Operating Officer. "The agreement with Cirrus Logic now offers product designers a fantastic opportunity to enable full frame, real time, audio-visual communications for Internet and telecommunications applications and will change the way the world communicates."
